How much are attorney fees?

Injured workers are oftentimes unwilling to hire an attorney due to the fear of attorney fees.  Attorney fees in an Indiana workers’ compensation case are regulated by State law.  Attorneys do not charge money up front, but only charge a percentage of the recovery.    Attorney fees are currently regulated at 20% of any settlement between $0 and $50,000 and if your settlement is greater than $50,000, the attorney fee portion greater than $50,000 reduces to 15%.  Attorneys are also entitled to reimbursement of any out-of-pocket expenses the attorney incurs while representing you in your case.  Your attorney may also charge a fee out of any medical treatment your attorney helps you obtain of 10% of the cost of said medical treatment.  This 10% fee does not impact you and only impacts the physician who provides you treatment.  Instead of receiving 100% of the charge, the doctor receives 90% and the attorney receives 10% for assisting you in obtaining the treatment.  Feel free to email or call us with any additional questions regarding attorney fees.
